Joanne Douvas appointed by Patron to boost US capital raising

Joanne Douvas

Patron Capital, the pan-European institutional investor focused on property-backed investments, has appointed Joanne Douvas as Senior Partner, Investor Relations, to accelerate capital raising from leading institutional investors based in the United States for Patron’s value-add/opportunistic and real estate credit strategies across Europe.

Douvas will be based in New York, and joins from BentallGreenOak, where she has served as Managing Director, Capital Raising since 2016. Prior to this she spent 16 years as a limited partner, investing in real estate funds – including funds sponsored by Patron – at LGT Capital Partners, Clerestory Capital Partners, and JPMorgan Asset Management.

Douvas founded Clerestory Capital Partners and later sold the firm to LGT Capital Partners, thereby establishing LGT’s real estate vertical. At JPMorgan Asset Management, she was Head of Real Estate Fiduciary Services and Portfolio Manager for the outsourced real estate allocation of the AT&T Pension Fund. On behalf of the Clerestory Small Cap Real Estate Fund, she invested in Patron Fund IV.

Leveraging her deep network of contacts across North America’s institutional investment community, Douvas will play an invaluable role as Patron looks to launch new funds. It is targeting strategic growth areas across private European real estate markets, including in the value-add/opportunistic investing space, where it has a 26-year track record, as well as across new subsectors and asset classes where market adjustments and structural macroeconomic trends are presenting compelling new long-term risk-adjusted opportunities.

Patron has worked with major American investors since it was established in 1999. Approximately 57% of Patron’s capital over the past 26 years and 50% of capital raised for Fund VII launched in 2024 has come from US investors, including pension funds, endowments, foundations and family offices. Working closely with the senior team at Patron, Douvas will be responsible for further strengthening and developing this diverse range of clients and partners in the United States.

Keith Breslauer, Managing Director and founder of Patron Capital, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Joanne to support the team at this exciting time for our business as we prepare to launch various Patron initiatives including upcoming real estate value add Fund VIII, Patron Credit Fund and various active platform investments.  “Joanne is an enthusiastic supporter of Patron as a former investor and we have worked together through the years. We already have a strong North American investor base, and Joanne’s extensive experience as an institutional investor, fund selector, and capital raiser gives her a rare understanding of both sides of the relationship. We believe she will play a key role in supporting US investors and the continued growth of the firm.”

Joanne Douvas, Senior Partner, Investor Relations, said: “I am proud to be supporting Patron’s talented and creative team. Having known the senior management since 2006 and invested institutional capital into Patron funds as an investor myself, I am fully aware of what I believe is an exceptional track record. Patron’s European value-add and opportunistic strategies, plus its newly formed debt platform, offer compelling real estate-focused investments, and I am looking forward to managing US investors’ involvement with them.”
